Parent Communication
Each year I make it a priority to ensure that parents and guardians are up to date with what is happening in Room 7. I have explored various ways to do this over the past few years. My goals are:
In order to accomplish the above, there are three primary ways I encourage you to stay connected with Room 7. The three platforms we will use this year are:
Please remember that I am always able to be contacted through email. But at the same time I find the use of these platforms helpful in sending quick messages to individuals or large groups.
- to make it easy and convenient for parents/guardians to receive the information that they need
- to make it easy for parents/guardians to contact me
- to get students involved in the process of sharing the learning we are doing in class
- to give you talking points so you can have conversations at home with your child
- to have you celebrate your child's learning and to leave feedback for your child
In order to accomplish the above, there are three primary ways I encourage you to stay connected with Room 7. The three platforms we will use this year are:
- SeeSaw Learning Journal - I have used this the past three years and it is an easy and efficient way for you to see work that your child adds to an online portfolio. You are able to give feedback, ask questions, and see the work as it happens. There will be more information about this coming in September.
- Class Blog - This year I want students to be writing for an audience. One way which we will do this is by having student bloggers. Each week the responsibility will shift between students to update the blog on what we are doing in class. I will send out reminders to you when a new blog gets posted. Again, feedback through comments is powerful, motivating and encouraged.
- Remind - I haven't used Remind in a few years, but they have added features and for the purpose of sending messages home this is the platform that I will be using. This allows me to send messages from my phone that are delivered to you quickly and easily. You can choose to receive these messages as text, through email, on the web, or through an app. I will explain this more during our start of the year interviews, but if you want to be ahead of the game, follow the sign up instructions posted below.
Please remember that I am always able to be contacted through email. But at the same time I find the use of these platforms helpful in sending quick messages to individuals or large groups.
