- Beginning next week we will be revising our memoirs. We continue to use mentor text to help us decide what makes a good memoir and a bad memoir. When revising next week we will be learning how to work with each other to improve our work.
Math
- Grade 7s have started to add integer numbers. Next week we will look at subtracting.
- Grade 8s have a solid understanding of square and square roots. We started to look at the relationship of the Pythagorean Theorem. Next week we will work on using this relationship to find unknown values when working with right triangles.
Social Studies
- We continue to work on our note-taking as a way to get an overview of the Indus Valley Civilizations. Next week each student will pick a theme that they want to focus on as they do some individual research for the Indus Valley or Mesopotamia.
- We are in the middle of doing a mini research task on water usage. Kids will wrap this work up on Monday. After this we will do some looking at the Lake Winnipeg watershed, and building our own watersheds.
- We continue to look for donations for the WeScare hunger campaign. Our class has fallen a little behind and they really want to earn the pizza part. We continue to look for donations through till October 31st. Cereal, Peanut Butter, and Baby Formula are top ticket items worth the most points.
- Continue to get kids to read in the evenings!
